Sir Elton John hosted his godson Brooklyn Beckham and Brooklyn’s wife Nicola Peltz on his luxury yacht in Saint-Tropez, France, while Brooklyn’s parents, David and Victoria Beckham, along with some of their other children, vacationed nearby amid an ongoing family dispute. The two parties narrowly avoided an encounter onshore, marking one of the first opportunities for a face-to-face meeting in some time.

Brooklyn Beckham, 27, and Nicola, 31, spent the day strolling through Saint-Tropez and later returned to Elton John’s residence in the area. Meanwhile, David, 51, and Victoria, 48, were aboard their yacht off Pampelonne beach with their son Romeo, 23, his girlfriend Kim Turnbull, 24, and their daughter Harper, 15. David and Victoria went ashore for dinner with NBA legend Michael Jordan and his wife Yvette Prieto. The Beckhams were also seen enjoying time walking near the port and swimming in the Mediterranean.

A source close to the family described the situation as tense, noting that it would have been the first time in a long while that all parties came into close contact. The source added that many were relieved the meeting did not occur because of the current strained relations, which would have made the situation awkward.

Elton John, 79, who has been close to the Beckham family for over two decades, is reportedly maintaining a neutral stance in the dispute. An insider stated that Elton has no intention of taking sides, emphasizing his desire to remain a supportive godfather to Brooklyn and expressing hope that family relationships might eventually heal. Elton has himself experienced difficult family dynamics, including periods of estrangement from his late mother, Sheila Farebrother, and from his father, Stanley Dwight.

The Beckhams’ ongoing rift reportedly centers around Brooklyn’s claim that his parents have attempted to interfere with his relationship with Nicola Peltz. Despite the tensions, Elton John’s friendship with the family remains strong. In 2023, David and Victoria took their children to an Elton John concert in London, and earlier this year, Brooklyn and Nicola were guests of honour at Elton’s Oscars party.

Adding another layer to the family’s public profile, youngest son Cruz Beckham, 21, recently marked a milestone by debuting his band, Cruz Beckham & The Breakers, at the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago. Cruz performed new material from his upcoming EP, showcasing his indie-rock sound to a large audience.

As the Beckhams continue their separate days in the South of France, the family’s complex dynamics remain in the spotlight, with no immediate sign of reconciliation during this holiday period.
