More than 200 individuals participated in a blood donation drive organized by the Embassy of India in Kuwait on Friday, ahead of World Blood Donor Day. The event took place at Adan Hospital and Blood Bank in collaboration with Blood Donors Kerala (BDK) and the Federation of Indian Doctors (FID).
The initiative was officially launched by India’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Paramita Tripathi, together with Al-Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Hamoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. Representatives from Adan Hospital, the Central Blood Bank, and senior members of Indian community organizations were also present. Sheikh Hamoud set an example by becoming the first donor at the camp, a symbolic gesture aimed at encouraging wider community involvement.
The embassy reported an overwhelming response, with over 500 people registering and more than 200 successfully donating blood. Participants came from diverse professional and social backgrounds, reflecting a collective commitment to supporting Kuwait’s healthcare infrastructure through voluntary contributions.
Organizers expressed gratitude to all donors, volunteers, and partner organizations for their role in the success of the event. They noted that the drive not only addressed critical blood supply needs but also reinforced the collaborative spirit between the Indian community and local institutions.
World Blood Donor Day, observed annually on June 14, seeks to raise public awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation and to acknowledge the lifesaving impact of donors globally. The observance also emphasizes the ongoing demand for safe blood and promotes sustained community engagement in health services.
The Embassy of India highlighted its ongoing cooperation with Indian community groups in Kuwait to arrange various welfare activities, including blood donation camps, medical services, and environmental initiatives. These efforts underscore the strong ties between India and Kuwait and demonstrate the Indian diaspora’s active contribution to humanitarian and social causes within the country.
