The Embassy of Japan in Qatar has announced the return of the Qatar-Japan Illustration Contest for its second year, following the success of the inaugural event. The contest, which celebrates the fusion of Japanese art and culture within the Qatari community, is being organized in partnership with local cultural groups Geekdom and Nakama.
Launched on July 19, 2026, the competition invites participants to submit original artwork centered on the theme “Crossroads of Legends: My Original Japan-Qatar Hero/Heroine.” The initiative aims to promote cross-cultural exchange by providing a platform for both Qatari nationals and residents to express their creativity and appreciation for Japanese artistic traditions.
Submissions are accepted across three categories, including a special division exclusively for children. Artists of all skill levels are encouraged to enter, with the deadline for applications set for August 27, 2026.
A panel of distinguished guest judges will evaluate the entries and select the winners, who will be awarded prizes sponsored by Teyseer Motors - Suzuki, Fnac Qatar, Daiso Japan, and Iwatani Corporation.
Further details on contest rules and submission procedures are available on the official website of the Embassy of Japan in Qatar.
