Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the Nottingham Open due to injury, just hours after her defeat in the Queen’s Club Championships final. The 23-year-old British player sustained a thigh injury after slipping during her quarter-final match on Saturday. She went on to lose the final on Sunday to Donna Vekic in straight sets, 6-0, 7-6.

Raducanu was scheduled to compete in the East Midlands tournament within 48 hours of the Queen’s final, but announced her withdrawal citing a “change in schedule.” She noted that she has been managing several minor injuries recently and acknowledged the difficulty of recovery in a short time frame.

In addition to Raducanu, fellow British player Katie Boulter also pulled out of the Nottingham Open due to a knee problem. Boulter’s withdrawal comes just days after she reached the semifinals at Queen’s, where she impressed with her performance before succumbing to injury.

The withdrawals of both Raducanu and Boulter mark a significant blow to the British contingent at the Nottingham Open, impacting local hopes ahead of the grass-court season.
