The re-release of "Avengers: Endgame" under the title "Avengers: Endgame Encore" led the North American box office last weekend, generating approximately US$266 million in ticket sales. The renewed interest in the 2019 Marvel blockbuster is seen as momentum builds ahead of the upcoming sequel, "Avengers: Doomsday," which is scheduled to debut in Singapore on December 17.

Tickets for "Avengers: Doomsday" went on sale on September 28, offering screenings in venues certified under Disney’s new "Infinity Vision" label. This certification indicates auditoriums designed to provide enhanced visual and audio quality for a more immersive cinematic experience. Alongside the standard ticket offerings, Disney is promoting collectible posters as special incentives, with two different designs available for customers who purchase pairs of tickets while supplies last.

Also on sale were tickets to a special double feature event on December 16 at GVMax in VivoCity, Singapore, that will screen both "Avengers: Endgame Encore" and "Avengers: Doomsday." This double-bill option provides fans an opportunity to revisit the blockbuster ahead of the new film's premiere, with the purchase similarly qualifying buyers for the limited-edition posters.

"Avengers: Endgame," which remains the second-highest-grossing film globally with total box office earnings of US$2.8 billion, earned an estimated US$86 million worldwide this past weekend following its re-release, according to box-office tracking firm Exhibitor Relations.

The upcoming sequel, "Avengers: Doomsday," continues the saga with a large ensemble cast including Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Anthony Mackie, and Florence Pugh. The plot centers on heroes from three different universes joining forces to confront the villain Doctor Doom, portrayed by Downey Jr. This film will be followed by "Avengers: Secret Wars," which is scheduled for release in December 2027.

Other notable performances at the North American box office included Sony’s "Resident Evil," which placed second over the weekend with an estimated US$23 million, pushing its global total beyond US$196 million after two weeks in theaters. Paramount’s "Heart of the Beast," a survival drama starring Brad Pitt as a former soldier navigating the Alaskan wilderness alongside his combat dog, opened with an estimated US$20 million in North America.
