England has been drawn into Group B for the 2027 men’s 50-over Cricket World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Zimbabwe, Namibia, and South Africa. The tournament is scheduled to begin in early October 2027, with the final set for November 21 in Johannesburg.

The English team, led by Harry Brook, will face co-host South Africa and New Zealand in the group stage, alongside Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and a yet-to-be-determined qualifier from the round-robin Super Series taking place in Namibia. England will open their campaign against Bangladesh on October 8, followed by matches against South Africa on October 16, the qualifier on October 20, and New Zealand on October 23.

Notably, England avoided both the defending champions Australia and India, who have been placed in other groups. This draw is seen as favorable for England as they aim to build on recent successes in limited-overs cricket and seek to replicate their 2019 World Cup victory achieved on home soil.

The tournament format features an initial group stage, with the top three teams from each group advancing to the Super Seven round. Additionally, the best fourth-placed team across all groups will also progress. From the Super Seven phase, the four leading teams will qualify for the semifinals, culminating in the final match in Johannesburg.

The event promises a competitive field with a blend of established cricketing powerhouses and emerging teams. The presence of co-hosts South Africa alongside Zimbabwe and Namibia highlights the growing role of African nations in international cricket. The final stages of the World Cup are expected to attract significant attention as teams vie for the prestigious title.
