Equestrian competitions in Barka continued to draw strong participation as the Oman Equestrian Federation organized three events marking the 2026-27 season. The series included showjumping, endurance riding, and horse racing, with riders representing government units, private stables, and individual horse owners.
The showjumping event took place at the Olympic arena at Al Rahba Farm, featuring 125 horses competing across two categories based on jump heights of 70cm and 90cm. In the 90cm category, Anas bin Waleed al Wahibi secured first place riding ‘Al Shahma’ for Al Hareth Equestrian Stable. Ritaj bint Tamim al Mahrouqi finished second on ‘History,’ representing the Equestrian and Olympic Centre, while Saleh bin Nasser al Ghabshi placed third on ‘Epos’ from Al Marsalat Stable.
In the 70cm category, 80 horses participated, with Adhra bint Talal al Hasani taking first place aboard ‘Kainseem’ from Mojo Equestrian Centre. Ahmed bin Badr al Wahibi earned second place riding ‘Dilmoun’ of Asayel Equestrian, and Maryam bint Nabeel al Habsi achieved third place on ‘Jumper’ of Seeb Equestrian School.
The endurance riding qualifier, held at Al Mahamid Endurance Village in Barka, featured distances of 40 km and 80 km for the second qualification event of the season. The 80 km ride was split into two stages of 40 km each, starting with 27 horses, 25 of which completed both stages successfully. Meanwhile, the 40 km ride, a single-stage course, saw all 51 participating horses finish the qualifying distance.
These events are integral to the federation’s 2026-27 program, designed to support the development of equestrian skills and experience across multiple disciplines.
Separately, Al Rahba Racecourse hosted the season’s third horse racing meeting, presented by the Oman Equestrian Federation through the Oman Horse Racing Club. The meeting featured eight races, including five for purebred Arabian horses, two for Thoroughbreds, and one for locally bred Arabian horses. Jockey Amer bin Ali al Rasbi distinguished himself with three wins, riding ‘Aman,’ ‘Mutamakin SP,’ and ‘Audi to Duty’ in their respective races. The competition included wide participation from both horse owners and stables, with races conducted over various distances.
Together, these events underscore Oman’s commitment to fostering a diverse and vibrant equestrian sporting calendar for the 2026-27 season.
