Erith Town moved closer to the summit of the Division 1 South East table with a decisive 4-1 victory over Herne Bay on Saturday. The win puts Erith four points behind the league leaders, with the advantage of two games in hand.

The hosts took control of the match in the 39th minute when Harry Taylor beat Herne Bay goalkeeper Tom Wray to open the scoring. Taylor doubled the lead deep into first-half stoppage time, giving Erith a comfortable advantage at the break.

Herne Bay responded in the second half, reducing the deficit in the 61st minute through Ben Gorham. However, Erith quickly regained momentum as Taylor scored his second goal just three minutes later to restore a two-goal cushion.

The Dockers sealed the win late in the game when Jerome Jayaguru found the net in the 87th minute. Taylor’s performance, highlighted by his brace, was instrumental in securing the convincing victory.

Erith Town’s result continues their strong run of form and enhances their prospects in the title race, as they look to close the gap on the division leaders with several matches still to play.
