A former assistant principal at Wylie East High School has been indicted on federal charges related to child exploitation, according to authorities. Zachary Christian Neu, 32, from Richardson, Texas, faces two counts of enticement of a minor, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas announced on Wednesday.

The indictment, returned on June 10 in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas, alleges that Neu used social media and messaging applications to contact two minors. Prosecutors claim the communications with one minor occurred shortly after she graduated from Wylie East High School on May 23, with Neu continuing to message her after she informed him she was under 18.

Following these allegations, Wylie police became involved. Investigators, with consent from the girl’s mother, assumed her online identity in an undercover capacity to maintain contact with Neu, the indictment states. Neu was arrested on June 4 after police tracked him from the high school to a predetermined meeting location he had provided.

A second alleged victim came forward after Neu’s arrest when her mother contacted Wylie police after seeing news coverage of the case. Authorities allege Neu began messaging this girl in March on TikTok before the conversations transitioned to text messaging. Examination of Neu’s cellphone revealed messages corroborating interactions with both minors.

The investigation was conducted jointly by the Wylie Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Neu appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Aileen Durrett on June 17. Assistant U.S. Attorney Calli Bailey is handling the prosecution. Neu’s former employer, Wylie East High School, was his workplace during the period in which the alleged offenses took place.
