A former student at a Brooklyn public high school has filed a lawsuit alleging repeated sexual assault by a school employee during the early 2000s. Brittany Linton, now an adult and mother of five, claims that Kevin Gilford Orr, who worked at Canarsie High School, exploited her trust and subjected her to a series of rapes beginning when she was 15 years old.

According to the lawsuit, the assaults occurred in empty rooms during school hours, while Orr was performing duties such as checking students in for lunch. Linton described the abuse as "violent, criminal sex acts" that took place at the now-closed institution. She said she expected Orr, as a staff member, to support and protect her, but instead he took advantage of her vulnerability.

The complaint also asserts that school administrators ignored or dismissed complaints regarding Orr’s behavior, allowing the abuse to continue unchecked. Linton expressed profound betrayal, emphasizing that she had trusted Orr’s role as a caregiver and protector within the school environment.

Orr responded to the lawsuit with a denial, telling a news outlet that Linton was "at least 19 at the time," implying that her allegations of being a minor are inaccurate. The conflicting accounts set the stage for a contested legal process as the case unfolds.

Canarsie High School, which closed several years ago, has not issued a public statement regarding the allegations. The case highlights ongoing concerns about student safety and staff accountability within public schools.
