Former Texas Christian University football player Jacob Fields surrendered to authorities in Tarrant County following an aggravated assault charge related to an altercation in the team’s locker room. Fields, a former safety who had transferred from Louisiana Tech, was accused of striking wide receiver Dozie Ezekunma during the incident on August 13.

According to online county records, Fields faces a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. The episode reportedly took place inside the TCU locker room, and the university promptly reported the matter to campus police on August 14. Subsequently, Fields was removed from the Horned Frogs football team for violating team rules, as confirmed in a statement issued by the university on August 18.

Ezekunma, a junior on the team, described the incident in a video posted to Instagram, which was later deleted. He indicated that Fields delivered a punch from behind, characterizing it as a “sucker punch.” A separate individual present in the video recounted losing consciousness after hitting his head on the ground during the altercation.

The TCU football program has not released additional details about the incident beyond the confirmation of Fields’ removal and the ongoing legal process. Authorities have taken custody of Fields as the investigation proceeds.
