Former England rugby player Danny Cipriani is currently crowdfunding his second wedding, a move that has drawn criticism from his first wife, Victoria Cipriani, who has spoken openly about their troubled relationship and his ongoing personal struggles.
Victoria, who was married to Danny until their divorce was finalized in October 2025, described a turbulent period marked by Cipriani’s substance use and mental health challenges. She recounted an incident during which he overdosed on magic mushrooms, leading to his admission to a treatment facility. At that time, Victoria was 23 weeks pregnant; a few days later, she suffered a miscarriage while alone during the COVID-19 lockdown and without medical assistance. She initially withheld the news from Danny due to concerns about his fragile mental state. When he eventually learned of the loss, Cipriani was reportedly on antipsychotic medication and expressed deep sorrow, promising to change his lifestyle, a promise that she says he upheld for a while.
Despite this, Victoria expressed skepticism about Danny’s long-term ability to remain drug-free, noting that during his rugby career he often used cannabis but maintained his performance. She indicated doubt that he has fully given up drugs in the years since.
After their separation, Victoria said Cipriani rekindled a relationship with AnnaLynne, a woman he first met a decade ago and who hosts spiritual and consciousness retreats in Egypt. Victoria highlighted Cipriani’s significant spending during the 18 months between their separation and divorce, which she estimates at around £450,000. This included over £30,000 on trips to Egypt and nearly £11,000 on a “spiritual vacation,” with additional expenditures on yoga classes and therapeutic retreats. Both Cipriani and AnnaLynne have acknowledged participating in ayahuasca ceremonies in the Amazon for personal healing, a practice Victoria dismisses as “crackers” and “complete woo-woo,” citing a video of AnnaLynne speaking in a constructed “dragon” language as evidence of what she considers eccentric behavior.
The couple’s divorce was further complicated by allegations that Victoria had stolen £70,000 from Anne, Danny’s mother, whom Victoria had been caring for after Anne suffered a stroke. Victoria was officially cleared after a nine-month investigation involving forensic accounting, describing the process as a significant emotional and financial burden.
Victoria still maintains contact with Danny’s father, Jay Cipriani, who has indicated he will not attend the upcoming wedding in Los Angeles scheduled for August 22, citing visa issues. Victoria expressed some doubt about the stated reason for his absence.
Despite the challenges and public scrutiny, Victoria, who describes herself as single, indicated she is open to new relationships with partners who do not have substance use problems. She also revealed plans to relocate to Los Angeles, humorously noting she might be invited to Danny’s wedding but has no intention of paying to attend.
