Exeter Chiefs are navigating a season marked by both strategic investment and injury setbacks as they aim to build for the future. New backing from Black Knight has provided the club with greater financial stability, allowing management to move away from short-term planning and focus on long-term squad development.

Last season saw several players make significant progress, including Harvey Skinner, Campbell Ridl, and Josh Iosefa-Scott. The team also benefited from the strong performances of Tom Hooper and Andrea Zambonin, who bolstered the back five of the pack and have returned for the current campaign. However, injuries have begun to temper enthusiasm. Campbell Ridl faces an extended absence due to an ACL tear, expected to sideline him for most of the season. Additionally, while captain Dafydd Jenkins is advancing ahead of schedule in his recovery, concerns remain about the depth in key forward positions.

In response to these challenges, Exeter has reinforced its midfield with key signings ahead of Len Ikitau’s departure. Will Butt and Dallas McLeod, a former All Black, have joined the squad. McLeod, whose availability is tied to the conclusion of his commitments with Canterbury, is anticipated to inject experience and versatility into the midfield alongside Zack Wimbush, who is expected to play a prominent role.

With these changes underway, Exeter Chiefs are positioned to contend in what is regarded as a competitive season. Current projections suggest a finish around seventh place, with strong competition expected from Bath and other clubs in the Premiership.
