Kuwaiti authorities have arrested an Asian national in connection with an attempted drug smuggling operation involving synthetic narcotics concealed within paper sheets. The Ministry of Interior announced on June 27 that the arrest followed a collaborative effort between the Drug Control General Department (DCGD) and the Kuwait General Administration of Customs (KGAC).
The operation began after officials identified a suspicious shipment linked to a shipping company. Acting on this intelligence, authorities staged a controlled operation in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, where the suspect was apprehended retrieving the shipment. A search of the package revealed 80 sheets of paper infused with a synthetic drug. Subsequently, a search of the suspect’s residence uncovered an additional seven sheets prepared in the same manner.
Further investigation indicated that the detained individual was operating under instructions from an overseas contact based in an Asian country. The suspect reportedly was tasked with collecting the narcotics and distributing them across multiple concealed locations.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized ongoing coordination with international law enforcement agencies to facilitate the completion of legal procedures related to the case. The collaboration underscores the commitment of Kuwaiti authorities to clamp down on drug trafficking through enhanced domestic and international security cooperation.
