Nicola Wright, a 44-year-old experienced aerobatic pilot and mother of four, died when a light aircraft she was flying crashed near Honiton in Devon last week. The aircraft went down in a farmer’s field as it approached Dunkeswell airfield, the highest licensed airfield in the UK. No other individuals were aboard the plane at the time of the crash.

Devon and Cornwall police are conducting an investigation into the incident in coordination with the Air Accident Investigation Branch. The circumstances leading to the crash have not yet been publicly disclosed.

Wright’s family described her as a devoted and loving mother whose four young children were central to her life. They said she shaped who her children have become and that her loss is deeply felt by the entire family. The family also highlighted Wright’s skills and passions, noting that she was not only an accomplished aerobatic pilot but also an enthusiast of skydiving, diving, and mountaineering.

Professionally, Wright served as the human resources director at Medisave, a global medical and pharmaceutical distributor. She played a key role in building the company alongside its founders, including her husband, Graham Wright, and Melissa Denton, a longtime friend. Her passing has been mourned by those who knew her both personally and professionally.
