The Omani Centre for Regulating Organ and Human Tissue Donation and Transplantation recently engaged in discussions with experts from the Spanish Donation and Transplantation Institute to strengthen the organ donation system in Oman. The collaborative meetings focused on strategies to develop organ donation services following brain death, aiming to improve both the efficiency and quality of related healthcare services in the Sultanate.
The initiative included an exchange of international expertise, enabling a review of current practices and procedures in organ donation and transplantation. Specialists and healthcare personnel worked together to identify key performance indicators that could be implemented to assess service quality and operational effectiveness. This effort forms part of a broader cooperation framework aimed at unifying protocols, enhancing performance, and maximizing the use of donated organs within Oman’s healthcare system.
By addressing existing challenges and exploring development opportunities, the partnership seeks to advance the country’s capacity in organ donation and transplantation. The focus on collaboration with experienced international institutions underlines Oman’s commitment to adopting best practices and improving outcomes for patients requiring organ transplants.
