The Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration (QICCA), affiliated with Qatar Chamber, convened a specialized seminar titled “Arbitration and Expertise in Light of Practical Practices in the State of Qatar” on June 25 at Qatar Chamber’s headquarters in Lusail. The event brought together experts and specialists from legal, engineering, and accounting fields to discuss recent developments in arbitration practices and their impact on resolving commercial disputes.
The seminar focused on the integration of technical expertise within arbitration procedures, highlighting its growing importance in enhancing the efficiency and transparency of dispute resolution. Presenters emphasized how qualified professionals contribute to fostering a more robust business environment, thereby increasing investor confidence in Qatar.
Key participants included Eng. Mohammed Al Kuwari, Board Member of the Qatar Society of Engineers; Asma Al Ghanim, Board Member of the Qatar Lawyers Association; and Maryam Mohammed Al Malik, Vice President of the Qatar Association of Certified Public Accountants. Each delivered presentations illustrating the specific role that experts in their respective fields play in supporting arbitration processes.
Speakers underscored the necessity of combining legal and technical knowledge to improve arbitration outcomes. They noted that expertise drawn from diverse disciplines helps clarify complex commercial disputes, ultimately strengthening the principles of justice and transparency that underpin Qatar’s legal framework.
Sheikh Dr. Thani bin Ali Al Thani, Vice Chairman of QICCA, reaffirmed the Center’s dedication to hosting similar initiatives regularly. He highlighted these forums as essential to promoting arbitration culture and advancing local expertise consistent with international standards.
