A British man imprisoned in Iran on espionage charges has been handed an additional two-year sentence, according to his family. Craig Foreman and his wife, Lindsay Foreman, were detained in 2025 while traveling by motorcycle on a round-the-world trip. Both were initially sentenced to 10 years in prison, charges they have denied.
Family members reported that Craig Foreman received the extended sentence after speaking to the press. Joe Bennett, Lindsay Foreman’s son, said Craig was denied access to a lawyer and a translator during the process. He added that Craig had been told he was being taken to meet his lawyer but was instead brought before a judge and informed of the extra sentence.
The couple began a hunger strike in May to protest their detention. The British Foreign Office stated that it is actively engaging with Iranian authorities regarding the recent developments in Foreman’s case.
Details about the specific reasons behind the additional sentence remain unclear, as does the current status of the couple’s legal situation. The Foremans continue to face serious charges amid tense diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and Iran.
