Faiza Star, a seven-year-old mare trained by Darren Treacy, competed in a Class 1 race at Grafton on July 5, covering 1,251 meters under soft track conditions. Ridden by jockey A. Allen and carrying a handicap of 55 kilograms, the mare finished 10th in a field led by Picuptsixx, The Dux Nuts, and Whiskey Miss.
During the race, Faiza Star was positioned toward the rear, settling in ninth place through the first 800 meters before dropping to eighth entering the final turn. The mare experienced a significant setback near the 400-meter mark, which impacted her momentum and finishing position. Despite this, Faiza Star was supported in betting markets and considered a contender given her previous performances, although she ultimately was unable to challenge for the front positions.
Faiza Star’s recent form indicates a modest overall record, with no wins recorded in her last 15 starts and a win rate around 7.1 percent. However, the mare has shown a particular affinity for the Grafton track and similar distances, previously securing a win over 1,183 meters and placing in similar conditions. This suggests potential for improved results under favorable circumstances.
Trainer Darren Treacy has since freshened the mare following the race and noted that Faiza Star’s profile fits well with the track and distance at Grafton. While she did not threaten during this outing, she remains a candidate to place in future engagements, especially when conditions align with her known preferences and racing style.
