Speaking from South London ahead of a busy summer itinerary—including trips to Ibiza and New York Fashion Week in September—Anderson outlined key tips to maintain a polished yet practical look for jet-setters.

For Anderson, the way travelers dress for the airport sets the tone for the entire trip. “I feel like the holiday starts from as soon as you leave your house and head to the airport,” she said. She stressed that feeling both comfortable and confident is essential, though there is no need to be overly formal or dressed up.

Athleisure is a particular favorite for Anderson, who also runs her own fashion-meets-fitness brand, LAPP. According to her, athleisure offers a versatile option that can be dressed up or down, making it ideal for airport wear. She acknowledged that jeans are acceptable for short-haul flights if they are loose-fitting but recommended athleisure for longer journeys to ensure comfort throughout.

Anderson cautioned against certain choices, notably wearing pajamas in the airport terminal. Reflecting survey data from 1,000 UK adults traveling abroad this summer—where 61% said they would avoid wearing pajamas on planes—she agreed that while changing into sleepwear on the plane is fine, it is less appropriate to wear them in public at the airport.

Footwear choices were another area Anderson highlighted. She discouraged the use of heels or other uncomfortable shoes, noting that many women opt for such styles in lounges but endorsing trainers instead for their practicality and comfort during travel.

A stylish jacket is a staple of Anderson’s airport wardrobe, used to elevate otherwise casual outfits. She recommended choosing outerwear appropriate for the destination, such as puffers for cold climates or lightweight biker jackets for milder conditions. Finally, a roomy handbag, like a large tote, was advised to accommodate any additional items if checked luggage becomes overweight.
