Comedian Nick Mohammed, known for his role as Mr Swallow, will take on the role of host in the upcoming stage adaptation of the BBC series The Traitors. The play, titled The Traitors - Acts of Betrayal, is set to begin performances at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London this May.

Mohammed, who was a finalist in the first series of The Celebrity Traitors last year, will portray the host character originally presented on television by Claudia Winkleman. The adaptation is written by John Finnemore and directed by Robert Hastie. It consists of a cycle of five plays that explore various outcomes as characters are “banished,” “murdered,” or accused in their competition for a cash prize. Audience participation on Saturdays will influence the direction of the story.

Describing the project as “wildly ambitious,” Mohammed praised Finnemore’s script for its blend of humor, emotional depth, and unpredictability. He acknowledged the challenge of stepping into a role previously held by Winkleman, humorously noting his own lack of hair as a potential obstacle.

A promotional video shot at Ardross Castle, a 19th-century estate in the Scottish Highlands where the BBC series was filmed, features Mohammed taking the “Host oath” in character. Stephen Lambert, head of Studio Lambert, a co-producer of the production, emphasized the qualities required to play the host role — charm, mischief, acting talent, and stage presence — and said Mohammed possesses all of these attributes.

The play represents an extension of the highly popular television series, bringing its interactive and suspenseful format to a live theatre setting in London.
