The inaugural Falcon Sur Cup badminton tournament concluded on October 16 after two days of competition at the Falcon Badminton Academy in Senaya, Sur, Oman. Organized by Falcon for Badminton Excellence, the event brought together players across various age groups and categories, including men’s, women’s, and youth singles and doubles matches. The tournament was held under the theme “Learn to play, train to win,” with the goal of promoting badminton in Sur and throughout Oman, encouraging greater participation among youth and women, and identifying emerging talent in the sport.

The competition featured intense matches, close finals, and notable performances. Among the standout athletes was Karthick CS, who secured titles in three boys’ singles categories—Under 13, Under 15, and Under 17. His victory in the Under 17 final saw him edge past Mighael Stephenraj with a 21-18 scoreline.

In addition to individual events, the doubles contests were highly competitive. In men’s doubles B, the pairing of Srinivas and Sandeep overcame Jasin and Binu in a three-set match, 13-21, 21-17, 21-16. Ajmal and Nishad took the men’s doubles D title with a straight-sets win over Suraj and Monir, 21-18, 21-19. The mixed doubles B category was claimed by Pranav Sajeev and Amrita Menon, who defeated Revathi and Jasin 21-12, 21-14. In women’s doubles, Siva Sundari and Resmi Suresh won decisively against Revathi and Ramya, 21-2, 21-3.

Falcon for Badminton Excellence expressed gratitude to all sponsors, participants, parents, volunteers, and spectators for contributing to the tournament’s success. Organizers noted that the strong turnout and high level of play reflected the growing badminton community in Sur and the wider region.

Season one champions across categories included Aiden Naduthodi (Under 11 boys), Meena Sridar (Under 11 girls), Killada Lavanthika (Under 15 girls), alongside the multiple titles won by Karthick CS in the boys’ age groups.

The Falcon Sur Cup aims to continue fostering interest and development in badminton, serving both as a competitive platform and a community-building initiative in Oman.
