Relatives of two children who died in a boating accident on Lake Geneva in Wisconsin are raising funds to support a charity in their memory. The siblings, 6-year-old Caleb Oswald and 7-year-old Abigail Oswald, were among three children who lost their lives when a boat capsized amid a severe storm on July 3 in Walworth County. The third child, aged 10, has not been publicly identified.

The incident occurred as a storm system moved through the area, producing peak winds estimated between 90 and 100 miles per hour. Two of the three children were confirmed by school officials to be students of Community Unit School District 200, which serves suburban Wheaton, Illinois.

In a statement, the school district expressed condolences to the families affected by the tragedy. “On behalf of Community Unit School District 200, our deepest condolences are with the family and friends of the children who died in a tragic boating incident in Lake Geneva on July 3,” the statement read. The district also urged the community to support the families during this difficult time.

As of Wednesday morning, more than $90,000 had been raised through a GoFundMe campaign established by the children’s relatives. The funds are intended to be donated to a children’s charity chosen in honor of Caleb and Abigail.

The Oswald family shared personal reflections about the siblings, describing them as close “best friends” deeply loved by their family, friends, and teachers. They recalled Caleb’s enthusiasm for trucks, music, and his frequent talks about working at Chick-fil-A when he grew older. According to the family, Caleb would often ask a virtual assistant to play his favorite songs so he could dance and sing with joy.

Abigail was remembered for her love of swimming and dancing and her sharp sense of humor. Her family noted that she had a quick wit and often made those around her laugh. They added that Abigail had a compassionate nature and had dreamed of becoming a teacher to help other children learn and grow.

“They filled our home with laughter, music, hugs and endless love,” the parents wrote in a post accompanying the fundraiser. They emphasized their desire for Caleb and Abigail’s legacy to be one of hope, compassion, and kindness despite the profound loss.
