A seven-year-old boy remained in critical condition after a tragic incident at a beach in West Mersea, Essex, which resulted in the deaths of his teenage cousin and her mother. The incident occurred last Wednesday while the family was playing in the sea.
Police reported that Musa Ahmed, 15-year-old Sameeha Rahman, Shelina Rahman, 41, and three other relatives were all caught in difficulties in the water. Authorities noted that the family members made significant efforts to assist one another during the emergency. Additionally, members of the public quickly responded to the scene to offer help.
Sameeha and Shelina, who were from Ilford, East London, were pronounced dead at the scene. Musa was airlifted to a hospital, where he remained in a critical condition as of the latest updates. Other family members involved in the incident are reportedly recovering.
Detective Chief Inspector Al Pitcher stated that the family had been enjoying a day at the beach before the incident occurred. Officials are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the tragedy.
