A mother and her three young children died early Tuesday in a house fire in Bootle, Liverpool, despite rescue attempts by family members and neighbors. The blaze broke out at around 3:30 a.m. at a residence on Stone Square, prompting a rapid response from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, which dispatched six fire engines to the scene.

Upon arrival, emergency crews found one casualty outside the property who was quickly taken to hospital for treatment. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building to search for other occupants and to extinguish the fire. Inside, they discovered the four victims deceased.

The father and an older child managed to escape the flames and reportedly tried to rescue the others but were unable to reach them due to the intensity of the fire. Neighbors described the family as well-liked members of the community and said they did their best to assist during the emergency. Witnesses also noted the father appeared visibly shaken after the incident.
