A grandmother was killed in a car accident hours after arriving to identify the body of her son, who died earlier the same day in north Wales, her family confirmed. Carol Tinsley, 70, was traveling from Merseyside to Llangollen on July 11 when the crash occurred. She was en route to identify the body of her 46-year-old son, Andrew Tinsley, who died after jumping into a river from Llangollen Bridge amid a period of hot weather. Three of Andrew Tinsley’s children were also in the vehicle and sustained injuries in the collision.

In a separate incident in Leeds, West Yorkshire, a hedgehog that had been deliberately painted blue and yellow—the colors of Leeds United football club—has died after suffering respiratory issues and damage to its spines. The female hedgehog, named Honey by rescuers, was discovered coated in thick, oil-based paint in a garden. The paint caused her spines to stick together, impairing her breathing. Police have launched an investigation into the deliberate animal cruelty.
