Seb Reader, a 28-year-old fan from Wandsworth, London, relocated back to his mother’s home to accumulate savings for attending the upcoming World Cup. By moving, he reduced his monthly expenses, paying £350 toward household bills instead of the £1,300 rent for his own flat, effectively saving £950 each month.

Reader managed to gather enough funds to spend £9,300 on seven tickets, covering all of England’s potential matches except for the final. He described the cost of attending the tournament as “extortionate,” noting that even the tickets he purchased were financially burdensome. The final’s ticket prices were reportedly around £10,000, prompting him to reconsider attending the match in person.

Given the high costs, Reader is considering an alternative plan: returning to the UK to watch the final with other fans, benefiting from the lively atmosphere, before flying back to the United States. He believes this option may be more affordable than staying for the final in the host country, despite the travel expenses involved.
