Joshua Kerry, 28, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court yesterday facing charges connected to the murder of Ann Widdecombe and alleged terrorist activity. Kerry, from Rotherham, formally confirmed his identity but did not enter a plea during the hearing.
Authorities allege that Kerry carried out extensive research into several prominent individuals before targeting the home of Nigel Farage. According to court documents, Kerry traveled to Farage’s residence on April 20, 2023, where he caused damage to the front door and left a bottle of lighter fluid in the porch. The incident is part of the charge of preparation of terrorist acts, which relates to alleged activities occurring between May 31, 2024, and July 8, 2026.
In addition to the terror-related accusations, Kerry is charged with the murder of Ann Widdecombe, a Reform UK spokeswoman and former Conservative minister. Widdecombe, 78, was found dead at her home in Haytor on Dartmoor, Devon, on July 8. The circumstances surrounding her death have not been fully disclosed in court.
Kerry is scheduled to appear next at the Old Bailey tomorrow, where further proceedings on both the terrorist preparation and murder charges will take place. The case underscores concerns over potential threats posed by individuals targeting high-profile figures in the political sphere. Authorities are continuing their investigation into Kerry’s motives and actions related to both incidents.
