Tractor Football Club is considering Farhad Majidi, currently head coach of Ittihad Kalba, as a potential new manager following the departure of Spanish coach Paco Jemez. The two parties mutually agreed to part ways on Monday, ending Jemez’s tenure that began in December 2022.
The Tabriz-based team faces a challenging end to the 2023-24 Iran Professional League season, sitting third in the standings with 40 points after 23 matches. Tractor’s recent 4-1 home defeat to Zob Ahan on Friday widened the gap between them and league leaders Esteghlal to 10 points, severely diminishing their chances of claiming the league title for the first time.
Local reports indicate that Majidi has expressed interest in taking over the managerial role at Tractor. Additionally, other candidates being considered include former Tractor coaches Yahya Golmohammadi, Rasoul Khatibi, and Firouz Karimi. The club is expected to announce its next coach in the coming weeks as they prepare for their next fixture against Nassaji in Matchweek 24, scheduled for Friday.
During his stint at Tractor, Jemez did not secure any trophies, leading to speculation that the club’s management was seeking a change to reinvigorate the squad’s performance as the season reaches its final stages.
