A British man has pleaded guilty to causing the death of his toddler son during a holiday in Cyprus. Josh Foster, a senior accountant with KPMG, entered the plea at Paphos District Court in relation to the death of his son, Jaxon, who fell from the fourth floor of the King Evelthon Beach Hotel and Resort in Chlorakas on July 12.

Foster was charged with causing death by a reckless act after the incident. Initial reports presented in court indicated that the boy fell through an open window while Foster was holding him around the waist and swinging him from side to side. However, Foster later contested this account, stating that he had placed his son on a window ledge while waiting for a lift, unaware that the window was open.

During a brief hearing, Foster’s lawyer, Alexandros Alexandrou, explained that his client’s decision to plead guilty was made late on Monday. The plea was intended to avoid a prolonged trial and to spare the family from enduring further distress through the detailed presentation of evidence.

The case will return to court on October 5, when the prosecutor is scheduled to outline the facts in full and the defense will have an opportunity to present mitigation arguments. Should Foster be convicted, he faces a potential prison sentence of up to four years.
