A father and son have died after falling into an industrial silage tank on a farm in Cheshire. Alan Ford, 72, and his son Rick Ford, 42, were rescued from the tank at their farm in Ast By Budworth, near Arley, after emergency services were called at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cheshire Agricultural Society paid tribute to the pair, highlighting their longstanding involvement with the organization. Alan Ford had recently retired as chairman and director of the society in April, while his son Rick had served as a director for several years. A statement posted on the Royal Cheshire County Show’s official Facebook page described the deaths as a tragic loss and noted the Ford family’s tireless dedication to the society over many years. The society extended its condolences and support to the family during this difficult time.

Cheshire Constabulary confirmed that an investigation into the incident is underway. No further details about the circumstances surrounding the accident have been released. Emergency responders and local authorities are continuing to examine the site as part of ongoing inquiries.
