The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) unveiled its 2027 Calendar of Heroes on Wednesday, showcasing 24 firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs in separate editions featuring male and female first responders. The unveiling event took place at the FDNY Fire Zone in Midtown Manhattan and attracted a large crowd eager to obtain signed copies of the calendar.
The annual calendar highlights the physical fitness and wellness of FDNY personnel, with proceeds from the $25 calendars supporting the nonprofit FDNY Foundation. Attendees at the event expressed admiration for the featured firefighters, with many praising their dedication and appearance.
Among those showcased is Giovanni Cummings, a rescue medic stationed at Station 32, who appears on the April page of the women’s edition. Cummings emphasized the mental and physical demands of her role, explaining that rescue medics provide crucial support to firefighters both physically and emotionally. "We have to be the ones to have mental agility as well as physical," she said.
Other notable individuals highlighted include EMS Lieutenant Veleri Makaret of Battalion 58, who was featured as “Mr. May,” and Battalion Chief Kevin White, the oldest participant at 55 years old, who appears shirtless as the March cover figure. White humorously noted he was likely the only model to shave some gray chest hair for the shoot.
The calendar serves not only as a fundraiser but also as a way to showcase the wellness and resilience of FDNY personnel who play vital roles in emergency response throughout New York City.
