The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 is staging a series of promotional events at Bayt Qatar in Nagoya, Japan, alongside the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the upcoming basketball tournament and showcase Qatar’s preparations as the host nation for the first Middle Eastern edition of the event.
Three promotional days are scheduled, with the first held on September 20, followed by events on September 23 and September 29. These activities offer an opportunity for visitors, international sporting delegates, and members of the sports community in Nagoya to engage with aspects of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027, including an interactive fan experience designed to highlight what attendees can expect during the competition.
A central feature of the promotional days is the display of the Naismith Trophy, awarded to the tournament champion. Visitors to Bayt Qatar have the chance to see the trophy up close and participate in various interactive activities while receiving tournament-related souvenirs.
Qatar is set to host the World Cup from August 27 to September 12, 2027. The tournament will feature 32 national teams competing in 92 games, all scheduled to take place across four venues in Doha: Lusail Arena, Al Janoub Arena, Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena, and Al Duhail Arena. This compact hosting model, with venues located in close proximity, is designed to facilitate easier travel for fans and enhance the overall tournament atmosphere.
The LOC has emphasized the fan experience as a priority, aiming to extend engagement beyond the games themselves. Organizers are planning a range of entertainment and cultural activities to complement the basketball competition, providing visitors an opportunity to explore Qatari culture and tourism offerings.
Mead Al Emadi, Executive Director of Marketing and Commercial Operations for the LOC, described the Nagoya promotional days as a strategic component of the committee’s outreach efforts. Al Emadi noted that these events enable direct engagement with fans and sporting delegations from across Asia, helping to build excitement ahead of the tournament.
“We want the fan journey to Qatar 2027 to begin before they arrive in Doha,” Al Emadi said, highlighting the importance of early interaction with supporters. She also pointed to the Naismith Trophy display as a unique attraction to bring fans closer to the heritage and prestige of the competition.
Coinciding with the promotional days, tournament ticket sales have launched, offering packages such as the Lusail Series Pass, Final Phase Pass, and Follow My Team Qatar Pass. These options allow fans to secure their seats in advance and prepare for the event.
The promotional activities form part of Qatar’s broader efforts to highlight its sporting legacy, which includes hosting the Doha 2006 Asian Games and other major international events. The campaign also connects the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 with the country’s upcoming role as host of the 2030 Asian Games, reinforcing its status as a hub for global sports events while introducing visitors to its culture and identity.
