The fifth Oman Electricity and Energy Conference is set to commence on Monday, October 12, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. The three-day event will convene approximately 4,200 participants from 47 countries to address key issues surrounding energy transition and the resilience of electricity grids in a rapidly evolving environment.
Organized by Nama Electricity Distribution Company in partnership with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the conference aims to explore pathways for empowering the future of energy amid growing complexity in the sector. The event will feature over 70 speakers, including experts and industry leaders, who will provide insights into emerging trends, challenges, and innovations in energy systems.
Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, Mohsin bin Hamad al Hadhrami, is scheduled to officially open the conference. Discussions will focus on strategies to strengthen grid resilience, accommodate increasing integration of renewable energy sources, and ensure reliable electricity supply amid global shifts toward sustainable energy.
The gathering represents a significant platform for stakeholders across governments, utilities, technology providers, and researchers to collaborate on adapting energy infrastructure and policies in line with international climate and development goals. The conference’s theme, “Empowering the Future of Energy: Energy Transition Pathways and Grid Resilience in an Increasingly Complex Environment,” highlights the critical balance between innovation and stability needed for the region’s energy future.
