The Saudi Film Commission has reached an agreement to preserve the personal archive of prominent Saudi actor Abdullah Al-Sadhan at the National Film Archive, Saudi Press Agency reported. The agreement was formalized during the second day of the Saudi Film Confex, with National Film Archive General Manager Abdullah Al-Abdullah and Al-Sadhan signing the deal.

Al-Sadhan’s collection encompasses a broad span of his career, including materials related to the widely acclaimed Saudi comedy series “Tash Ma Tash,” which holds a significant place in the Kingdom’s television history. The archive includes a diverse array of items such as footage tapes, photographs, scripts, production documents, correspondence, and filming equipment. Additionally, costumes and memorabilia from Al-Sadhan’s projects are part of the collection, providing insight into the creative processes behind some of Saudi Arabia’s most iconic television productions.

According to Al-Abdullah, the National Film Archive will assume responsibility for preserving, cataloguing, and digitizing the materials to maintain their accessibility for researchers and future audiences. He emphasized that the collection represents a vital segment of Saudi television drama history, highlighting both the popular works and the behind-the-scenes efforts that contributed to their success.

The initiative also aims to inspire other Saudi creators and filmmakers to safeguard their artistic legacies through similar preservation efforts. This move reflects a growing recognition of the importance of documenting the Kingdom’s cultural heritage in the expanding local film and television industry.
