A fire destroyed two shops in the market area of Jambazar, located in Khatyad Rural Municipality-2, Mugu district, late Wednesday night. The blaze erupted around midnight, engulfing a grocery store owned by Bishnu Sanjyal and a tailoring shop operated by Annama Damai.

Authorities were alerted promptly, and a police team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Nand Bahadur Rawat from the Shrikot Police Post arrived at the scene shortly after the fire started. Deputy Superintendent of Police Raviraj Thapaliya of the District Police Office in Mugu reported that the fire was fully extinguished by 1:10 a.m. on Thursday, with assistance from local residents.

The fire consumed all goods inside both establishments, including grocery items, tailoring equipment, and clothing materials, resulting in significant financial losses. Police are currently gathering information to calculate the total damage, though an exact figure has not yet been determined.

No injuries or fatalities involving people or livestock were reported. Officials noted that despite the potential for the fire to spread to nearby shops, swift action by the community helped contain the incident and prevent further damage. Local resident Bhuvan Tamata highlighted the important role played by residents in controlling the fire.
