A couple visiting Brittany in northern France recently received an unusual and memorable welcome when two French Air Force Mirage fighter jets performed a flypast overhead. The event took place at a specific scenic location near the southern end of a lake, where they had been instructed to gather at a precise time.

The couple, Amana and her French partner Robin, had traveled approximately 1,100 miles on a round trip to visit Robin’s newborn grandson. Prior to their arrival, Robin’s son, a French Air Force pilot, arranged the flypast as a special greeting. As the two Mirage jets passed overhead, the first aircraft executed a victory roll while the second pilot responded by waggling the aircraft’s wings in a gesture of acknowledgment. Both jets then circled back to repeat the display.

This flypast, typically reserved for formal state occasions and dignitaries, was a unique and personal salute, marking an extraordinary welcome for the family. The pilots behind the display were Robin’s son and a fellow aviator, who orchestrated the demonstration to greet the visitors on their arrival.
