A 20-year-old football supporter has been issued a football banning order after displaying an offensive message mocking the victims of a fatal traffic collision during a Championship match. Bradley Aston, a Wolves fan and sports analysis student from Walsall, was seen taunting nearby Middlesbrough supporters with the phrase “Police Killed Your Own” on his phone at the game held on Saturday.

The incident occurred shortly after the tragic crash on August 22, in which two police officers, PCs Matthew Blades, 37, and Tom Clough, 38, died alongside five youths. The collision involved a Volkswagen Passat that struck the officers’ patrol car in Middlesbrough.

Following the incident at the match, Aston was quickly identified and arrested. He pleaded guilty to a charge of causing harassment, alarm, or distress at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court. The court imposed a suspended eight-week jail sentence along with a four-year football banning order, prohibiting him from attending matches during that period.

Judge Steven Jonas remarked during sentencing that Aston had “deliberately run the risk of causing a substantial violent reaction” by displaying the provocative message. The ruling reflects the court’s concern over behavior that could incite hostility or disrupt public order during sporting events.
