Conor Kennedy, son of Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Brazilian pop star and actress Giulia Be (legal name Giulia Bourguignon Marinho) were married in a two-part celebration in 2026, culminating in a large gathering in Rio de Janeiro.
The couple’s relationship began through a chance meeting in early 2021 when Be encountered Kennedy’s younger sister, Kyra, during a trip to Tulum, Mexico. After exchanging contact information months later, their connection deepened through frequent messages before they met in person in Los Angeles in January 2022. Kennedy was living in Los Angeles and attending Georgetown Law, while Be was based in São Paulo. The couple maintained a long-distance relationship punctuated by visits and shared moments such as bike rides and sightseeing in Miami and Washington.
In June 2022, shortly after their first meetings, Kennedy disclosed to Be that he planned to go to Ukraine to assist in the conflict following Russia’s invasion, a decision he had made soon after the war began. Although Be expressed pride in his choice, she acknowledged the emotional challenges involved and chose to support him without discouragement. During his absence, they marked their bond with matching tattoos of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, symbolizing their shared Catholic faith and serving as a connection during their separation.
They reunited in Paris in October 2022, after several months apart, and continued their relationship across international borders. Their engagement took place in August 2024 in Los Angeles, where they subsequently moved in together. Kennedy now works as an associate attorney at Wisner Baum and holds degrees from Harvard and Georgetown University Law Center.
The couple first formalized their union in a private ceremony in March 2026 with a close friend officiating in the backyard of his Los Angeles home. Be wore a dress passed down from her mother. The main wedding celebration occurred in October in Rio de Janeiro, reflecting Be’s Brazilian heritage and contrasting with the more traditional Kennedy family setting in Massachusetts.
The weekend of events began on October 8 at Mansão do Alto, a venue in the forested hills of Alto da Boa Vista. It included a welcome party, a beach volleyball competition with close friends the following day—honoring a Kennedy family tradition of incorporating games into weddings—and a blessing and vow exchange at the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue. A private dinner for family and the wedding party followed.
On October 10, the couple held a Catholic ceremony at Igreja Nossa Senhora do Carmo da Antiga Sé, one of Rio’s oldest churches. The day concluded with a reception at Instituto Brando Barbosa, a historic venue in the Jardim Botânico neighborhood, attended by approximately 400 guests. The festivities featured speeches from Be’s brother André Marinho and Kennedy’s father, as well as group singing of rugby songs cherished by Kennedy and his college friends. Dancing was an integral part of the event, underscored by Kennedy’s remark that while their Irish heritage did not lend itself to great dance skills, the celebration was lively and spirited.
The wedding weekend also coincided with Be’s promotion of two major projects: the release of her film “The Ten Advantages of Dying After You” scheduled for Brazilian theaters on October 29 and her self-titled trilingual album. The choice of Rio over the traditional Kennedy family compound in Hyannis Port was motivated by a desire to share Be’s hometown and culture with their combined circle of friends and family.
