Ford Motor Company has expanded its vehicle customization offerings through its newly launched Ford Custom Garage program, which provides a broad range of factory-backed accessories and performance upgrades for several key models, including the Bronco, Maverick, Mustang, and F-150. The initiative aims to meet growing consumer demand for personalized vehicles, with nearly half of new Ford buyers opting to accessorize their purchases, according to company data.
The Ford Custom Garage program enables customers to customize their vehicles with factory-approved decals, wheels, interiors, suspension components, and engine enhancements, all covered by the original factory warranty. This approach aligns with Ford’s strategic shift toward producing “passion vehicles” that emphasize individual expression and performance rather than solely targeting broad market segments. Ford’s CEO Jim Farley described the company’s ambition as moving away from the “boring-car business” towards creating more “iconic” models.
Several highlighted packages showcase the depth of the customization options available. For the Mustang, the FP800S package transforms the standard Mustang GT into an 810-horsepower performance machine with a 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 engine, enhanced suspension, upgraded drivetrain components, and optional magnetic ride shocks offering adjustable drive modes. The supercharger-based package retails for $18,500 (excluding installation), elevating performance close to that of far more expensive supercar variants.
Ford’s F-150 pickup also benefits from a new supercharger accessory priced at $10,250, compatible with any V-8-powered model. A more comprehensive FP700S package priced at $26,875 adds lowered suspension, distinctive wheels, and aerodynamic enhancements. Test drives from Ford’s Michigan International Speedway campus highlighted the significant performance gains and aggressive exhaust note accompanying these upgrades.
The Maverick compact pickup receives the $5,000 SV300T package, which boosts power to 300 horsepower by incorporating a turbocharger derived from Mustang EcoBoost technology. The package also upgrades suspension and styling elements, drawing inspiration from Ford’s previous performance hatchbacks like the Fiesta ST and Focus RS.
Bronco owners have access to a wider array of customizations as well, including several color and trim packages such as Sinister Bronze, Matte Black, and the off-road-focused ORV package. The latter includes larger tires, suspension lifts, upgraded shocks, skid plates, and steel bumpers, offering enhanced off-road capability. Additional performance upgrades can increase Bronco horsepower by 38 units.
Separately, Ram continues to offer its On Board Power System for the Ram 1500, an integrated generator solution providing up to 2 kilowatts of power via outlets in the truck bed for tools and appliances without the need for external generators. This system, priced at $995, addresses practical needs for tradespeople and outdoor users. Ford and General Motors offer similar built-in power systems, with Ford’s Pro Power Onboard delivering up to 9.6 kilowatts on certain electric pickup models prior to the discontinuation of the Lightning electric truck.
