The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday recognized the expanding role of women in the country’s diplomatic sector, emphasizing their growing contributions at both domestic and international levels. The announcement was made in conjunction with the International Day of Women in Diplomacy, observed annually on June 24.

In its statement, the ministry highlighted that women currently make up 21 percent of Kuwait’s diplomatic workforce. This includes 145 female diplomats serving across the ministry’s headquarters and various overseas missions. Among these, 65 women—comprising diplomats and administrative personnel—are assigned to Kuwait’s diplomatic posts abroad, supporting the nation’s diplomatic and consular activities in multiple regions.

The ministry noted that Kuwaiti women are now represented in 47 diplomatic missions around the world, marking a substantial increase in their engagement within the foreign service. This expanded presence reflects their involvement in key diplomatic positions and growing influence in shaping Kuwait’s international relations.

Significantly, the ministry pointed out that three Kuwaiti women currently hold the rank of Assistant Foreign Minister, a development that underscores progress in empowering women and enhancing their leadership roles within the diplomatic establishment. This milestone signifies efforts to advance gender representation at higher levels of the ministry.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its appreciation for the contributions of Kuwaiti women diplomats, describing them as vital to advancing Kuwait’s foreign policy objectives and strengthening the country’s presence in global platforms. Their professionalism, dedication, and service were cited as key factors in promoting Kuwait’s interests and fostering international partnerships.
