A former president of a Las Vegas Little League program has been arrested on charges of embezzlement and forgery after allegedly misappropriating tens of thousands of dollars from the organization. Steve Rodriquez Prado, 38, of Henderson, Nevada, was taken into custody Thursday following an investigation initiated by the Central Little League of Las Vegas.
The league reported concerns about missing funds to local authorities in March, prompting a police inquiry that uncovered evidence of Prado’s alleged misuse of money. According to law enforcement, Prado is suspected of spending more than $64,000 of league funds on personal expenses, including casino visits, rideshare services, food delivery, and medications such as erectile dysfunction treatments.
Authorities allege that Prado exploited his role overseeing youth baseball operations to divert funds for non-league-related expenses. The charges reflect theft and forgery, as investigators believe falsified financial records were used to conceal the transactions.
The Central Little League of Las Vegas has not publicly commented on the case. Prado’s legal representatives have yet to release a statement regarding the allegations.
The incident highlights ongoing challenges faced by nonprofit youth sports organizations in safeguarding financial resources and maintaining transparency. Investigators continue to examine the extent of the alleged embezzlement as the case proceeds through the legal system.
