A former Dorset police officer has been formally charged with causing grievous bodily harm following an incident outside a shopping centre in Bournemouth. Lorne Castle, 47, is alleged to have seriously injured Daniel Meyrick during the detention of a suspected shoplifter last year. The incident occurred a few weeks after Castle had left the police force. Castle is scheduled to appear at Reading magistrates’ court on May 27 to face the charges. Further details regarding the circumstances of the case have not been disclosed.
