Formosa Prosonic Industries Bhd has announced a leadership change with the redesignation of executive director Cheong Hong Yip as the company’s new managing director. The announcement was made through two filings on Bursa Malaysia on October 1, 2026.

Cheong, aged 58, succeeds Shih Chao Yuan, 70, who will transition from his role as group managing director to become a non-executive director. Shih, a Taiwanese national, recently reduced his shareholding in the company, ceasing to be a substantial shareholder as of September 11. Earlier in the year, he systematically trimmed his stake, previously holding the largest share in Formosa Prosonic.

Cheong’s appointment follows his initial board tenure beginning on August 4, 2026. He currently holds a 0.39% direct stake and a 0.129% indirect stake in the company. Before joining the board, Cheong served as the general manager of Formosa Prosonic and has a long-standing history with the group. He began his career within the company’s purchasing department and expanded his expertise through operational roles across quality control, shipping, production engineering, and warehouse management.

Formosa Prosonic, an audio products manufacturer, saw its share price close at RM1.04, down by one sen in the latest trading session. The company’s management reshuffle reflects an ongoing strategic realignment amid changing shareholder dynamics.
