Four individuals appeared in court in Sheffield on Wednesday charged in connection with the murder of a newborn baby found with multiple stab wounds. The infant, referred to in court as Baby S, was discovered in an outhouse with 33 injuries, including 15 stab wounds that caused catastrophic internal damage.

The defendants—Andrea Skopova, 20, Peter Horvath, 19, Nina Horvathova, 37, and Peter Horvath, 38—face charges of murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and perverting the course of justice by allegedly taking steps to conceal the infant’s death. All four are Slovakian nationals who have reportedly lived in Sheffield for several years. They were remanded in custody by Sheffield magistrates ahead of their next appearance at Sheffield crown court.

A separate hearing was held later in the day for a 15-year-old girl, who cannot be named due to her age, charged with perverting the course of justice in relation to the case. She was remanded to youth custody and is scheduled to appear at the crown court alongside the adult defendants.

The hearing was brief, lasting approximately nine minutes, but drew a significant number of family members, many of whom were visibly distressed. The four adults appeared in identical gray T-shirts and were accompanied by four security guards.

Police investigations continue, with two additional women, aged 26 and 37, arrested on suspicion of murder but currently released on bail. Authorities have not disclosed further details as inquiries proceed into the circumstances surrounding the newborn’s death.
