Four men were injured Friday night in a drive-by shooting in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood, police said. The incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. in the 4000 block of West 26th Street when the victims were exiting a building. A white sedan pulled up, and an occupant of the vehicle opened fire before fleeing southbound on Pulaski Road, authorities reported.

All four victims were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and were listed in good condition on Saturday. The injuries included a leg wound, a foot wound, a hand wound, and an arm wound.

According to Matt DeMateo, CEO of New Life Centers of Chicagoland, three of the men shot were affiliated with the organization, a faith-based nonprofit focused on violence prevention. Earlier that evening, the group had accompanied a team of young volunteers to Feed My Starving Children, a charitable organization, to participate in volunteer work.

DeMateo expressed deep concern over the incident in a social media statement, calling it a “random act of violence” that marred an otherwise positive night of service and community engagement. He confirmed that all three staff members are stable and expected to recover, while also highlighting the need for healing both physically and emotionally.

“This violence is heartbreaking and unacceptable,” DeMateo said. He emphasized the organization’s ongoing commitment to mentorship and violence interruption, noting that their staff and Peacekeepers work daily to build relationships, mentor youth, and foster peace in neighborhoods. He stressed the importance of maintaining safe spaces in offices, youth centers, and community venues.

New Life Centers operates five locations across the Chicagoland area and served over 250 participants through its violence prevention mentorship programs in 2025. DeMateo concluded with a call for peace, stating, “Violence will not have the final word. Hope and healing must.”

As of Sunday, no suspects had been apprehended, and Chicago police continue to investigate the shooting.
