Authorities in Dhaka have sealed four warehouses belonging to Toss Bond Private Ltd, a company owned by Sheikh Nur Islam, the father-in-law of content creator Salman Muqtadir. The action followed a joint raid conducted late Thursday night into early Friday morning by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID), in coordination with the Department of Narcotics Control and the Special Response Battalion-1 (SRB-1).
The operation, which ran from approximately 10:30 p.m. Thursday to 4:30 a.m. Friday, uncovered that Toss Bond Private Ltd was storing liquor and other goods across four warehouses in South Gulshan, despite only having authorization for two. Officials noted serious discrepancies in the storage facilities, prompting the decision to seal all four to prevent unauthorized removal or transfer of duty-free items imported under bonded warehouse regulations.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR), which issued a statement on the matter, confirmed that the investigation and verification process remains ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
This development comes amid heightened public scrutiny following a recent incident involving Salman Muqtadir’s studio near Dhaka Cantonment, which was reportedly vandalized and looted. The studio operates on property owned by New Gini Properties Ltd, which is currently engaged in a separate dispute. Muqtadir shared videos documenting the alleged damage.
In a related move, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit requested account information from banks concerning accounts held under Muqtadir’s name. Muqtadir expressed concern about the timing of the inquiry, suggesting it coincided suspiciously with his public statements as a victim of the vandalism.
Authorities have not yet commented on whether the warehouse sealing and the financial inquiry are connected. The ongoing investigations aim to clarify the circumstances surrounding Toss Bond Private Ltd’s warehousing activities and any potential breaches of customs or financial regulations.
