A fox cub struck by a vehicle and left for dead in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire, is showing significant signs of recovery following a series of hydrotherapy sessions. The cub, named Chance, was discovered near a roadside and initially faced a grim prognosis from veterinary professionals who considered euthanasia.
Chance was taken into the care of Mansfield Wildlife Rescue, where a dedicated rehabilitation program was implemented. This program has incorporated hydrotherapy treatments provided at no cost by Mansfield Canine Centre, aimed at improving the cub’s mobility and overall condition.
Volunteer Cathy Fraser, involved in Chance’s care, described the recovery process as extraordinary, expressing gratitude for being part of the cub’s rehabilitation journey. The use of hydrotherapy for wildlife rehabilitation is increasingly recognized for its benefits in supporting animals with injuries, facilitating muscle strengthening and controlled exercise without placing undue stress on healing limbs.
The ongoing care highlights the collaborative efforts between local wildlife rescue organizations and specialized therapy centers to provide tailored treatment for injured animals.
