French Polynesia has been selected to host the 2027 Pacific Games, scheduled to take place from July 24 to August 7 across the islands of Tahiti, Moorea, and Raiatea. This will mark the third occasion the territory has staged the regional multi-sport event, having previously hosted in 1971 and 1995.

The Games are expected to draw athletes from 24 Pacific nations, promoting not only athletic competition but also cultural exchange among Melanesian, Micronesian, and Polynesian communities. Organizers emphasize the event’s role in fostering unity and cultural celebration through various festivals and ceremonies conducted alongside the sporting schedule.

Noëlline Parker, President of the Pacific Games Organizing Committee, described the event as more than just a series of competitions, calling it “a shared human experience.” The committee has outlined sustainability and inclusivity as key priorities in planning the Games, aiming to ensure that the event benefits local communities and respects environmental considerations.

As preparations advance, the 2027 Pacific Games are anticipated to highlight both athletic excellence and the rich cultural heritage of the Pacific region, reinforcing ties among participating nations while showcasing French Polynesia on the international stage.
