Volkswagen has opened orders in the United Kingdom for its new ID. Polo electric vehicle, marking the latest addition to the automaker's growing electric lineup. The ID. Polo offers two battery options and varying performance levels, with a reported driving range of up to 281 miles on a single charge.
The initial launch includes two special editions, Life and Style, both equipped with the larger 52kWh battery and a 208bhp electric motor. Pricing for these models starts at £25,555. Standard versions of the ID. Polo, which will become available in September, feature a smaller 37kWh battery paired with a 133bhp electric motor.
The entry-level model is outfitted with several modern features such as a 12.9-inch infotainment display, wireless smartphone charging, and a rear-view camera. The Life Launch Edition enhances the experience with two-zone climate control, heated front seats, and a heated multi-function steering wheel. The Style Launch Edition adds further amenities, including a panoramic glass roof and an area view parking camera.
Charging capabilities vary according to battery size, with the larger battery version able to recharge from 10% to 80% capacity in approximately 24 minutes when using a compatible fast charger. This positions the ID. Polo as a competitive option in the subcompact electric vehicle market for drivers seeking environmentally friendly alternatives with practical ranges and modern conveniences.
Volkswagen's rollout plan aims to capture interest initially with the launch editions, then expand availability with standard models later this year, reflecting a trend among automakers toward broadening their electric vehicle offerings to meet growing consumer demand.
